Elafonisi Chania, Crete

Elafonissi is also known as the Caribbean of Crete as the water is crystal clear ans shallow and reminscent of an exotic paradise. In many places the sand  has a pinkish tinge of color to it due to the thousands of broken seashells it contains.

Elafonisi means “Deer Island” and this tiny island is a very enjoyable 200 meters walk through the warm waters away from the beach. It is excellent for snorkeling and there are 2 Kantinas/Snack bars with toilets on the beach.
